French President Emmanuel Macron is known for his desire to pose and create an image, and not to solve the real problems of the country. Such a statement, commenting on the upcoming visit of the French leader to Greenland to discuss security issues, was made in his telegram channel by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov.

"Macron, unable to protect Paris from vandals and rioters, is heading to Greenland to protect it from Trump," Pushkov wrote.

The senator recalled the statements of the French president that he was protecting the French from the "Russians standing at the gates of Paris."

"How convenient it is to provide protection from a non-existent threat! And how difficult it is to provide it to people from real threats caused by the policies of Macron himself and the ruling liberal caste in France. This is the whole Macron: posturing instead of politics, endless PR instead of real leadership," Pushkov further wrote.

Emmanuel Macron will become the first foreign leader to visit Greenland after the statements of the American leader Donald Trump about the desire to annex the Danish island to the United States. This is reported by the BFMTV channel with reference to the administration of the President of France.

During the visit, which will take place on June 15, it is planned to discuss security issues in the North Atlantic and The Arctic.

The US President has repeatedly said that Greenland should become part of the United States. He emphasized its strategic importance for ensuring national security and protecting the "free world," including from China and Russia.

In response, former Prime Minister of Greenland Mute Egede said that the island is not for sale and will never be sold. At the same time, Trump did not give guarantees that he would not use military force to establish control over Greenland.

Until 1953, Greenland was a colony of Denmark. Now it is part of the kingdom, but in 2009 it received the status of autonomy, which gives it the right to self-government and freedom in determining domestic policy.
