In response to a question about whether new sanctions will be imposed against Russia, US President Donald Trump recalled the shutdown of Nord Stream 2.

"It was I who stopped the Nord Stream—2 project, the very pipeline that was supposed to go to Germany. By the way, I regret that I did it. But it was I who stopped him —no one else. And as soon as Biden came to power, he immediately approved it. This is, in fact, the largest gas pipeline in the world, intended for supplies to Germany and other countries. Meanwhile, we have so much oil and gas that you just can't buy it all. We really have more resources than anyone in the world - maybe twice as many. So we'll work on it," Trump said on June 5 during a briefing with German Chancellor Merz.
