The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov summed up the meeting of the "Ramstein" format, which discussed military assistance to Kiev. According to him, a number of countries have declared their readiness to allocate new support packages to Ukraine, including the supply of weapons, equipment and drones.
According to the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine:
- The UK will allocate 350 million pounds for the purchase of 100 thousand drones in 2025;
- Germany — previously announced a military aid package of 5 billion euros. The package will include financing of long-range weapons, which will be produced in Ukraine, air defense systems, other weapons and ammunition;
- The Netherlands — a package of 400 million euros for the supply of various vessels and sea drones;
- Belgium — annual assistance of 1 billion euros until 2029, will transfer a mine-fighting ship;
- Norway — $ 700 million for drones, $ 50 million for NSATU Trust Fund (NATO initiative to help Ukraine in the field of security and training);
- Canada — $45 million for drones, electronic warfare, IT solutions, as well as Coyote and Bison armored vehicles;
- Sweden — 440 million euros for international programs for the purchase of artillery ammunition, drones and other weapons.
Earlier, Euractiv reported that NATO countries intend to include military assistance to Ukraine in their defense spending in order to get closer to the target cost level. Such a measure will allow the alliance to officially reflect an increase in defense spending up to 5% of GDP — this indicator has long been demanded by US President Donald Trump, the newspaper notes.
