US President Donald Trump said he had spoken by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I have just completed a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The call lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. We discussed Ukraine's attack on Russian aircraft in the parking lot, as well as other attacks carried out by both sides. The conversation was good, but not the kind that will lead to immediate peace," Trump said.
According to him, Putin said — and quite harshly — that he would be forced to respond to the recent attack on airfields.
"We also discussed Iran and the fact that there is less and less time to make a decision on nuclear weapons, and the decision should be made quickly. I told President Putin that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons, and it seemed to me that we had mutual understanding on this issue," the American leader said.
According to him, Putin offered to take part in negotiations with Iran and possibly help speed up the process.
"In my opinion, Iran is delaying a decision on this extremely important issue, and we will need a clear answer in the very near future," Trump said.
