The collective West is pushing Helsinki to a total confrontation with Moscow, which literally destroys Finland's national security. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
The diplomat drew attention to the significant intensification of military exercises in the West, indicating NATO's intention "to fully master the territory of its new recruit countries, in this case Finland."
"Many people do not even know what they are talking about, what kind of total confrontation with Russia and, first of all, total confrontation with their own national interests is being pushed by the collective West. And how they literally destroy national security with these steps," she said.
The exercises planned for the period from May 21 to May 28 in Finland with the involvement of military personnel and equipment from Germany, Sweden, Estonia, aimed at practicing maneuvers in wartime conditions "at an accelerated pace, with the unconditional consent of the Finnish authorities, are turning into another NATO escalation tool in the Russian border area," Zakharova stressed.
"It seems that the Finnish military and political elites are deeply affected by the virus of Russophobia, mentally preparing for some kind of war unknown to us, maybe they will explain what is meant. They are engaged exclusively in solving problems related to this war, they spend billions of dollars of their own country's budgets on what is imposed on them as a narrative, as they say in the West," the diplomat said, quoted by TASS.
