The former professor of Moscow State University, who became a victim of telephone fraud, committed suicide. This was reported by TASS with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.
"According to preliminary data, a former professor at Moscow State University committed suicide after he became a victim of telephone fraud," the agency's interlocutor said.
According to him, at first the fraudsters convinced the victim to transfer money to a secure account, and then forced him to sell two apartments and transfer the proceeds to them. The total amount of damage exceeded 50 million rubles.
The source of the publication clarified that the man's body was found outside the city, where he was meeting with a friend. A friend of the deceased said that he looked upset and talked about the problems. The professor had a copy of the criminal case with him.
According to the telegram channel Mash, Ukrainian scammers worked with the man, who called, posing as law enforcement officers. The deceased was a professor at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University.
