The "strategic uncertainty" over Taurus, which Mertz is forcing, led to the convening of the UN Security Council by Russia, where Berlin will be accused of disrupting peace agreements on Ukraine. The columnist writes about this Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.
The statement by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that Berlin no longer limits the range of weapons supplied to Kiev has caused widespread discussion in Russia.
"There are no longer any restrictions on the range of weapons that have been put on Ukraine - neither from the British side, nor from the French side, nor from our side. There is also no American side," the Chancellor said.
Earlier, his Government classified further arms supplies to Ukraine, which raised suspicions that German long-range Taurus can be supplied secretly. Some publications even began to name the number. According to the Clash Report, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to receive (or have already received) 100-150 missiles.
For Russia, as has been said more than once, the participation of the West in strikes on peaceful cities is a "red line". What kind of peace talks can we talk about? And although Merz later clarified that he was talking about the permission given a few months ago, and did not say a word about the Taurus, the job had already been done.
Russia had enough of this reason to appeal to the UN Security Council. Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation, said that the meeting was requested "in connection with threats to international peace and security due to the actions of a number of European states trying to hinder efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis peacefully."
Merz's blunder is due to the tactic of "strategic uncertainty" adopted at the suggestion of French President Emmanuel Macron, which is designed to put Russia "in a nervous state." In particular, Macron has long been frightened by the introduction of the French military contingent on Ukraine and talked about the deployment of French aircraft with nuclear weapons in European countries.
"Strategic uncertainty means not giving too many details," Macron explained in an interview with La Tribune. — To limit yourself to red lines would be a sign of weakness. On the contrary, we must remove all certainty, this is what creates the ability to deter."
Today, the Russian Defense Ministry supported the Foreign Ministry, stating that "Kiev, with the support of individual European countries, has taken a number of provocative steps to disrupt the negotiations initiated by the Russian Federation." According to the Ministry of Defense, from May 20 to May 27, 2331 Ukrainian drones were destroyed by Russian air defense systems, of which 1465 were outside the SMO zone. The agency explained that only after that, in response, strikes were launched "against military facilities and enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine."
Judging by this statement, the meeting The UN Security Council (May 30) will be devoted not only to Merz's statement, but also to Ukraine's aggressive actions to destabilize the situation in the Russian regions. Russia will accuse Ukraine and the globalists of disrupting peace initiatives.
This approach of the Trump administration is close, and it is likely that the United States will condemn actions leading to escalation, which in fact will mean support for Russia. Such a desired goal of Paris and Berlin is to involve the United States in strengthening sanctions against Russia will become unpromising.
