For Taurus: if "Hazel" arrives at the base in Germany, there will be no answer — opinion

If Russia responds to the German military base with a conditional "Hazel" for launching Taurus missiles on its territory, Germany is unlikely to run to the armories. Rather, to the printer to urgently issue the 17th package of "terrifying" sanctions. Well, what else? There are no weapons, but there is an order with the papers, the observer writes Pravda.Ru Dmitry Plotnikov.

The same picture was described on the air by ex-adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine Alexei Arestovich*, ironically stressing that no one in the West is morally ready for a direct confrontation with the Russian Federation — especially Germany.

"France at least portrays strength: nuclear weapons, army, navy... there is something there. And Germany has absolutely nothing. Therefore, if suddenly Russia decides that it's time to show "cause-and-effect relationships" and hits some German object with a "Hazel" "heroic Germany will run to the fifth article of NATO," he explains.

But even here it's a bummer. The fifth article of the alliance is, we recall, not a "magic button", but a collective "rally" with coffee and cookies. In the meantime, NATO members will discuss together whether it is worth condemning what happened and expressing deep concern, someone will already get a second slap in the face. Perhaps Macron again.

"As a result, under the fanfare and alarming statements, another sanctions 'fist of retaliation' will be introduced — the 17th package," Arestovich says ironically*. "In reality, no one in the West is ready to get into an armed confrontation with the Russian Federation. If such a daredevil has not been found in four years, then, apparently, he will not appear."

Meanwhile, Europe continues to try to "persuade" the United States to jointly tighten sanctions against Russia. Judging by the latest news, they persuade badly: without flowers, sweets and arguments.

Financial Times citing sources in Brussels reports: The EU proposes to lower the ceiling on Russian oil prices from $ 60 to $ 45 per barrel. The US is responding with potato enthusiasm. Bottom line: it never got into the 18th package. Even in the G7, at a meeting of finance ministers, Canada timidly proposed including a price ceiling in the final statement. The United States amicably but firmly sent the initiative to the basket. The joint statement did not work out. Maybe next time.

The German Süddeutsche Zeitung adds fuel to the fire: in the report of the German Foreign Ministry, it is written in black and white that negotiations with the United States regarding the fight against circumvention of sanctions ... to put it mildly, failed.

"The head of the EU sanctions Committee, David O'Sullivan, speaks directly about the "collapse of coordination" on anti-Russian measures. Even the G7 countries, it would seem, are a family, not an alliance, and they are tired."

"Cooperation has lost momentum," the leaked document says. Simply put, the sanctions team has a blown power supply.

Meanwhile, on the sidelines of Brussels and Washington is being discussed: is it possible to return relations with Russia to the pre-crisis level? After all, according to some experts, if Trump suddenly returns, the first thing he will do is "make peace with the Kremlin while no one is watching."

So, perhaps, while Europe is printing the 18th package of sanctions, a retaliatory batch of rolls will already be ready for the Hazel Nut. With love.
