Since February, the United States has been carrying out airstrikes in Somalia on the objects of the "Islamic State"* (IG*, ISIL*) and on the positions based in Somalia of the radical Islamist group Al-Shabab, which has close ties with the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda*.
"The largest airstrike in history was carried out — 125 thousand pounds (56.7 tons) — from one aircraft carrier (USS Harry S. Truman) on the territory of Somalia," the military publication quotes.
As the newspaper notes with reference to a Pentagon official, the strike was carried out on February 1 from the aircraft carrier Harry Truman, which is located in The Red Sea.
On February 1, US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered air strikes on targets in Somalia, where the terrorists were located, and also indicated that civilians were not injured as a result of these attacks. According to Somali media, as a result of air strikes on February 1, at least 48 ISIS terrorists were killed.
