The PSLV-XL launch vehicle was unable to launch the EOS-09 Earth remote sensing satellite into orbit on May 18, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) reported on the social network X.

The rocket was launched from the launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center in southeast India at 05.59 local time (03.29 Moscow time). They tried to launch the rocket for the 101st time.

"The performance of the rocket was normal until the 2nd stage. In accordance with the observations at the 3rd stage, the mission could not be completed, " the report says.

EOS-09 is the ninth mission in a series of Indian Earth observation satellites. The spacecraft is equipped with a synthetic aperture payload (SAR). The equipment is used for remote monitoring of the Earth's surface, construction control and monitoring of the condition of engineering structures, for monitoring the geological environment and other purposes.

The satellite was supposed to launch an Earth observation mission designed for at least 5 years.
