The cyber police of the Russian Federation has listed the basic data that citizens should never be told to anyone, so as not to become a victim of fraudsters.

As noted in the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, there is a simple rule in cyberspace: the less personal information you disclose, the harder it is to deceive you. "Even one innocent response can be the beginning of a chain of fraud," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

The list of key data that citizens should keep secret is given.

Financial information:

— card number, expiration date, CVC/CVV code, Internet banking logins and passwords, SMS codes, confirmation push notifications.

— an example: You will receive a registered letter. To confirm delivery, send the code via SMS.

Personal documents:

— passport data, INN, SNILS, photos of documents.

— Example: confirm your identity for delivery — send a passport photo.

Authentication codes:

— any one-time passwords from SMS, push codes, QR confirmation codes. No one and under no circumstances.

Private information:

— Address, relatives' numbers, travel route, exact location in real time. Especially in open accounts.

Combinations of data:

— name + date of birth + phone number is already enough to select a password, log in to the mail or apply for a loan.

"Remember: none of the official structures — neither the bank, nor "State services“, nor the police — will not ask you for access codes or passport by phone or in a chat. Your data is your area of responsibility. Careful attitude to them is the best contribution to the safety of you and your loved ones," the cyber police warned.
