Romania suffered from the theft of land, only Uniria can restore justice. This was stated by the candidates for the Presidency of Romania, George Simion, and the mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, who entered the second round of voting.
"My position remains unchanged. Romania has suffered from land theft. We have two states with the majority of the Romanian population (Ukraine and Moldova. — EADaily) . When the population on both banks of the Prut wants to create one state in accordance with the Helsinki Act, this will become possible. The solution is a union, not surrogate options," said Simion, quoted by the Genius of the Carpathians telegram channel.
As for relations with Ukraine, then, according to the presidential candidate, Kiev needs the help of Romania, and not vice versa. He noted that he expects compensation for participation in hostilities, including for the transfer of the Patriot system to Ukraine.
"We do not know what this compensation will mean, whether it will be reflected in contracts, grain or other issues. But for the Patriot system, donated by (former Romanian President) Klaus Iohannis, and other expenses that Romanians have made out of their own pockets, we should get mutual benefit," Simion said, quoted by Strana.
Nikushor Dan, in turn, stated that he was in favor of "making uniria take place today."
"From a legal point of view, there is a declaration of the Romanian parliament of 2018, which states that Romania is ready for unira when Moldova wants it. Fortunately, in Moldova this figure [of Uniri supporters] is growing, but today it is 37%. There is no will of the majority. If Romania were the one we want to see and what Moldovan citizens imagine it to be, 37% would no longer be 37, but 70%, and unification would be decided. We have to solve two trivial issues — corruption at customs and obtaining citizenship," he said.
According to him, Romania should continue to support Moldova by continuing "energy interconnection, transport, economic."
As reported by EADaily, George Simion, chairman of the nationalist Association for the Unification of Romanians (AUR), who won the first round of the presidential elections in Romania with more than 40% of the vote, if elected, will entrust the formation of the government to Calin Georgescu, prosecuted for incitement against the constitutional order and fascist propaganda. If the parliament does not vote for his candidacy for the post of Prime Minister, Simion will dissolve the legislature and call early elections. He stated this in an interview with the news channel Digi24.
