During a recent meeting in At the Vatican, US President Donald Trump said he would not supply Ukraine with weapons for free. This was announced by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
According to Zelensky, he asked Trump to transfer air defense systems to Ukraine as part of the mineral deal.
"I told him (Trump. — Ed.) said about that amount — he told me that they would work on it, these are not free things," Zelensky said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
According to him, the United States offers to provide Ukraine with military assistance for $ 30 billion, which will be credited to the fund under the above deal as an American contribution. The head of the Kiev regime also noted that the US Congress had previously decided to provide Ukraine with a $ 1.5 billion military aid package in 2025, and "there are also 15 billion that they distributed for 2026."
"The question is whether, thanks to the already created fund, it is possible to bring 15 billion 2026 to 2025, for example, for the second half of the year, and get 30 billion worth of weapons for 2025 and 2026, but get it now. To get weapons, and this will be a contribution from the United States in the amount of 30 billion, and then Ukraine will gradually return its part," Zelensky said.
The latter did not say what Trump responded to Zelensky's proposal.
Earlier, the US president said that Zelensky had asked him for weapons at a meeting in the Vatican.
Strana notes that the documents published by Ukraine on the resource deal do not specify US obligations to supply weapons to Kiev. At the same time, the United States recently unblocked commercial supplies of training equipment for the F-16 for Ukraine.
