Pope Francis died on Easter days, which means that he did not live his life in vain. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, answering journalists' questions at the Rossiya National Center.
"The fact that the Pope passed away in Easter days — I do not know about Catholics, but Orthodox people have such an understanding, a traditional understanding that if the Lord calls a person to him on Easter days, this is a special sign that a person has not lived his life in vain, has done a lot of good for people," the president quotes TASS.
Putin expressed confidence that this was the case, Francis did a lot of good not only for his flock, but also for the world as a whole.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the entire Christian world and, above all, of course, to Catholics," the head of state concluded.
As EADaily reported, Pope Francis died suddenly last night at the age of 88. Before that, he had been ill for a long time, but the day before he addressed the faithful with an Easter greeting.
