The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan announced the disclosure of an international network for trafficking in human organs. The content of the statement is posted on the official website of the department.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a 35-year-old woman who has been on the international wanted list since 2020 and suspected of participating in an international organized criminal group engaged in trafficking in human organs on the black market was detained in Poland.
"The investigation found that in the period from 2017 to 2018, members of this criminal group carried out illegal organ transplantation transactions in medical institutions in Kazakhstan," the text says.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, citizens of Israel, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were involved in illegal schemes.
"According to available data, the detainee was responsible for meeting and placing donors and recipients, organizing their medical examinations, paying expenses, as well as ensuring that they comply with conspiracy measures. In addition, she instructed donors on the issues of disguise, including memorizing false information about family ties with recipients," the statement further says.
Currently, the issue of extradition of the detainee to Kazakhstan for further investigative actions is being resolved.
