In the city of Borovichi, Novgorod region, an architectural monument of the XIX century, the house of General Nikolai Nikushkin, caught fire. This was announced today, January 10, by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

"In the Novgorod region, firefighters of the Russian Emergencies Ministry are extinguishing a fire in the house of General Nikushkin. In the city of Borovichi, the roof of a two—story house of the XIX century caught fire," the ministry said.

Two residents evacuated on their own, there are no people in the building, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. 20 firefighters are working on the site, six pieces of equipment are involved.

The owner of the house before the revolution was Nikolai Nikushkin. He took part in three wars: Russian-Japanese, World War I and Civilian.
