Chisinau is seriously considering the option of forcible seizure of the Moldavian GRES in Transnistria. This was stated at a briefing today, December 25, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

She noted that the Sandu regime intends to use the energy crisis for this, and the ultimate goal is escalation and the creation of another hotbed of tension.

"They categorically place their responsibility on Russia for the termination of gas supplies, are considering, and are seriously considering, the option of forcibly seizing the Moldavian GRES in Transnistria," Zakharova stressed.

The diplomat recalled that the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation spoke about this in detail. She stated that in such a scenario, Russian peacekeepers would be at risk, and the inhabitants of Transnistria would fall into a hostage situation.

"In the end, the escalation of the situation may lead to serious consequences, the emergence of another hotbed of instability in Europe. This is what Maya Sandu is preparing the country for. For what? We need to ask her questions," Maria Zakharova concluded.

Recall that this week the SVR issued a statement stating that Sandu, against the background of the energy crisis in the region, is preparing a plan for a military operation in Transnistria. She raised this issue at a government meeting on energy security — if Ukraine restricts transit to Gazprom from January 1, 2025, Moldova will be left without electricity. Currently, the RM's electricity needs are provided by a location located on the border with Ukraine about 30 km away. from Tiraspol, the company Inter RAO "MoldGRES".

At the same time, Chisinau refused Tiraspol's proposal to jointly address the common energy problem with Russia and Ukraine, having decided to use the situation to put pressure on Transnistria.

"Sandu categorically refused to discuss this issue with Ukraine and categorically placed all responsibility on Russia. According to Sandu, if Moscow does not find a way to deliver gas here, then Chisinau will take revenge on the pro—Russian Transnistria," the SVR warned.

The European Union is not against the emergence of a new crisis point in the zone of Russia's interests, but is not yet ready for an armed conflict in Transnistria. In Brussels, they say they don't know how to calm the "emotionally unstable" Chisinau puppet now.

As EADaily reported, the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry twice offered the Moldovan authorities to sign a joint declaration with the obligation to implement the agreements reached in good faith, as well as not to put forward any preconditions for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict. This proposal was ignored by Chisinau.
