In Moscow and the Moscow region over the past day more than ten times staged explosions of pyrotechnics in public places and set fire to ATMs on the instructions of fraudsters. Many of the detainees are elderly people.

"The violators were detained, in all cases people acted on instructions from telephone scammers," TASS quoted a law enforcement source as saying.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs previously reported on a "massive wave of fraudsters' actions" forcing victims "to commit destabilizing actions." In recent days, in trade centers, banks, branches of the Russian Post, as well as on the streets of Moscow and Citizens of St. Petersburg "threw firecrackers, Molotov cocktails, and also poured gasoline and tried to set fire to police cars."

Almost 20 people became victims of fraudsters. As specified in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they were driven by "the desire to return the stolen funds," as a result of which they "became participants in psychological operations of unfriendly countries."
