The WhatsApp messenger belonging to the American corporation Meta* is forcibly entered into the register of organizers of the dissemination of information (ORI).

This information was confirmed by the press service of Roskomnadzor, responding to relevant requests from Russian news agencies.

The department explained that the services that are de facto organizers of the dissemination of information, in accordance with Russian law, "are recognized as such de jure and are included in the register of ORI in the territory of the Russian Federation."

It should be borne in mind that all resources that are included in this registry, according to the laws of the Russian Federation, are required to store the data of their users. And to transmit them further at the request of our security forces.

There is every reason to believe that WhatsApp will not comply with these requirements, which will lead to its blocking on the territory of Russia.

Earlier, EADaily reported that Roskomnadzor restricted access to the Viber messenger for numerous violations of Russian laws.
