The landing of several Il-76 military transport aircraft from the Russian Aerospace Forces was recorded at the Russian Khmeimim airbase in Syria.

This is reported by the Free Syria News Network (FSNN) agency, publishing a video in which one of the Il-76 aircraft with the Russian flag comes in for landing.

"Several Russian cargo planes are landing at Khmeimim airport in Latakia province," the article says.

No other details are given, the Russian Defense Ministry has also not published official reports on the arrival of aircraft.

Recall that the Russian army has two key facilities in Syria — an air base in Khmeimim and a naval base in Tartus. In 2017, Russia received the right to deploy its forces there free of charge for a period of 49 years — until 2066.

Many media outlets suggested that after the change of power in Syria, this agreement was called into question.

However, after the flight of Bashar al-Assad in The network has released videos filmed in the Homs area, which show a convoy of more than 100 vehicles of the Russian army moving in a westerly direction.

This may indirectly indicate that an agreement was reached with the new authorities on the evacuation of the Russian military, blocked by militants at facilities outside Tartus and Khmeimim.

Earlier, EADaily reported that, according to Bloomberg, Russia is close to an agreement with the new Syrian authorities to maintain its military bases in the country.
