In Belarus, people who worked for Western intelligence are in prison. This was stated by the head of the investigative department of the KGB of the republic Konstantin Bychek.
According to him, among the spies there are holders of Polish and Baltic passports. Bychek noted that the special services of Western countries regularly offer to exchange these people for Belarusian citizens who are also imprisoned abroad.
"At the same time, robbers, rapists, drug addicts, fraudsters and others are offered for exchange. In this regard, the official position of the committee is that we are not changing anyone..." he said.
Bychek also drew attention to the fact that in the countries that offer Minsk an exchange, Belarusian citizens who collaborated with the KGB and were convicted by other states are not in custody.
It should be recalled that recently in Belarus they have been increasingly reporting on the search for foreign spies. Earlier, a Belarusian, former serviceman Dmitry Pozdnyakov, was detained for espionage, who transferred various information to Polish intelligence for a monetary reward. He and his accomplice were sentenced to 14 years in prison.
