The refusal to accept old dollars in foreign banks is a global trend, they refuse to accept them not only from Russians.
This was announced to journalists by Nikita Kondratiev, director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Russian Federation.
Commenting on the situation on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Tourism Forum, he noted that citizens around the world are denied acceptance of old-style banknotes.
"It's the same in Russia — a number of banks refuse to accept old-style banknotes. I think this is how banks protect themselves from the point of view of long-term money that they have at their disposal in order to have more recent bills in case of something. This is a trend all over the world, and not that someone is trying to infringe on Russian citizens," TASS quoted Kondratiev as saying.
It should be recalled that at the end of October, Artur Muradyan, vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), warned about mass cases of refusal to exchange old dollars in foreign banks. In this regard, Russian tourists were advised to purchase new dollars before traveling abroad.
