Today's plane crash of the German cargo Boeing, flying from Leipzig to Vilnius, has already managed to overgrow speculation about the "Russian footprint."
Before reaching 1.5 km to the runway, the plane crashed next to a residential building, miraculously not hitting it. One crew member was killed. Lithuanian police Chief Arunas Paulauskas said at a morning press conference that finding out the cause of the crash would take a long time, since only an inspection of the scene, collecting evidence, items could take a whole week.
"The answers will not come so soon," Paulauskas said.
According to him, the accident "most likely occurred due to a technical malfunction or human error." Answering the question whether it could have been a terrorist act, he said that such a scenario could not be ruled out. For this phrase on duty, the German "Bild" immediately caught on, giving out its version of what happened, where "thickly" hinted at Russia.
The newspaper recalled that last summer the German security authorities warned about "unconventional fires of goods sent by unknown persons through freight companies." The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the Federal Bureau of Investigation once sent a corresponding warning to companies from the aviation and logistics industries. The warning was connected, among other things, in security circles with the incident at the logistics center "DH-el" (DHL) in Leipzig, which is the global center of the company (the fallen Boeing belonged to this company).
"In July, a parcel sent from the Baltic countries caught fire at the logistics center "DH-el" in Leipzig. There was no word "Russia" in the warning of the departments. Nevertheless, the security circles do not rule out a connection with the frequent cases of Russian sabotage in Germany," says Bild.
