Astronomers report that one of the strongest shock waves in history, which arose from the collision of galaxies, has reached the Earth from the depths of space.

The results of a study on this topic were published on the eve of the British journal Monthly Notice of the Royal Astronomical Society (MNRAS).

A team of scientists found that the collision occurred in the Stefan Quintet group of galaxies, which is located 290 million light-years from the Solar system.

As a result of the research, it turned out that one of the galaxies (NGC 7318b) crashed into four others at a speed of 3.2 million kilometers per hour.

This collision led to the emergence of an incredibly powerful shock front, which was similar to the "sonic boom of a jet fighter."

The magazine also added that such an event is a "rare chance" for all of humanity, because such collisions in space are extremely rare.

Earlier, EADaily reported that in October there were rumors about the discovery of evidence of the existence of an extraterrestrial highly advanced civilization. They were promised to be published in a month, but so far this has not happened.
