The leaders of the EU countries were dissatisfied with the decision of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula to end negotiations at the G20 summit ahead of schedule, thereby reducing the discussion of issues on Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters on November 19.

"The communique is usually published at the end of the summit, but Lula decided to approve the text during the conclusion of the plenary session on Monday — at that moment the leaders of France, Germany and The United States was not in the room," the publication said.

The agency noted that French leader Emmanuel Macron was unhappy with such a decision by Luis Inacio Lula. He said that "the text would have won if it had been more frank" regarding the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier in the day, the FT saw a decrease in Kiev's support in the G20 amid calls for negotiations with the Russian Federation. According to the newspaper, some European delegations wanted to include a clause condemning Russia in the text, but refused this requirement due to fears of disrupting the adoption of the document. Journalists also pointed out that negotiations on Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East were postponed until the last days before the summit.

The G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro was held from November 18 to 19, and Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In the final declaration already adopted, the meeting participants welcomed all constructive initiatives to resolve the conflict at the Ukraine, reminds RBC.
