In the Kursk region, an "absolutely terrible" situation and "hellish" conditions have developed for the Ukrainian troops. This was reported on November 8 by the American newspaper The Washington Post with reference to two Ukrainian militants.

According to him, fighters from the 225th Ukrainian assault battalion were called up for service in the summer of 2023, sent abroad for training, after which they were transferred to the Kursk region. They said that this experience of participating in hostilities was the first for them.

"The struggle for Kursk remains intense, and sometimes simply terrifying for Ukrainians. In a hospital in Sumy region, men... are lying in beds with bandaged legs and arms, describing the hellish conditions in Kursk,"the publication says.

As one of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted, both commanders of his unit died shortly after he arrived in the combat zone. The remaining Ukrainian militants had to take care of themselves on their own and organize their own evacuation, he said.

"It's hard to describe in words. You will not wish this even to your worst enemy," WP quotes the serviceman.
