Russian President Vladimir Putin signed two laws today — toughening penalties for complicity in illegal migration, as well as on ratification of the treaty with the DPRK.

In particular, for organizing the illegal entry and stay of foreigners in the Russian Federation, as well as using the country as a transit, the defendants face from 2 to 5 years in prison. Under aggravating circumstances, the term of imprisonment will be from 5 years to 10 years. The maximum punishment will be 15 years in prison and a fine of 5 million rubles.

"The organization of illegal migration committed by a group of persons is classified as a particularly serious crime. The same applies to cases of importation of illegal immigrants in order to commit serious or especially serious crimes. Violators of the law will be punished with imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years, as well as a fine of three to five million rubles. Currently, the maximum penalty for this crime is seven years in prison,"RG writes.

The President also signed a law on ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the Russian Federation and the DPRK.

"Putin has signed a law on ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and the DPRK," the Kremlin's telegram channel reports.

It is noted that on the eve of the president did not rule out the possibility of holding joint military exercises with North Korea.

In addition, the Government of the Russian Federation decided to abolish the Organizing Committee for the preparation of athletes for the Olympic and The Paralympic Games, since since 2022 Russian athletes have not been able to participate in international competitions by decision of the International Olympic Committee.
