The administration of US President Joe Biden is looking for ways to urgently send Ukraine the latest aid package worth more than six billion dollars before Donald Trump, who announced his election victory, returns to the White House, Politico newspaper reports.
"The Biden administration plans to rush the last more than six billion dollars to help Ukraine's security before inauguration day, as the outgoing team prepares to stop arms supplies when President-elect Donald Trump takes office," the newspaper writes, citing two officials from the Biden administration.
According to Politico, of the remaining amount to help Ukraine, $ 2.1 billion was allocated for new defense orders from contractors from the United States, and another $ 4.3 billion was directed to the withdrawal of existing weapons from warehouses. At the same time, the publication notes that it usually takes months to supply weapons, so if Biden's team announces new assistance in the near future, it may not reach Kiev in full before Trump returns to the White House.
