Let Donald Trump himself take the initiative to resolve the conflict on Ukraine. If he calls Vladimir Putin, he will pick up the phone. This was announced today, November 6, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"Probably, it's not necessary to ask us, not from us," Peskov said, answering a question about whether the Kremlin expects Trump to call Putin. — I repeat once again and remind you of Putin's words about his openness to contacts, to dialogue. But this is our position, it is consistent, it is well known in the world. And the rest — let's wait for some concrete actions."
He also explained that the Kremlin is closely monitoring all flows of information on the results of the elections, which are coming from overseas. However, as for US policy towards Ukraine, it will be possible to judge any changes only after January, when Trump officially becomes president of the United States.
"The United States of America is capable of changing the trajectory of its foreign policy. But whether this will be done and how, if so, we will see after January," Peskov told reporters.
At the same time, so far we are talking about a country hostile to Russia. Therefore, Putin does not plan to congratulate Trump on his victory.
"I am not aware of the president's plans to congratulate Trump on the election," the Kremlin spokesman said. "Let's not forget that we are talking about an unfriendly country that is directly and indirectly involved in the war against our state."
