Republican candidate Donald Trump may win the presidential election with a probability of 86%, the New York Times predicts based on preliminary results and exit poll data.

According to the estimates of the publication, he will enlist the support of 250 to 335 electors (an average of 297), and his rival from the Democratic Party Kamala Harris — from 203 to 288 (an average of 241).

Trump pulled ahead by a slight margin in Pennsylvania — the most important swing state — with 50.9% versus 48.2. 61% of ballots have been counted there. Swing states account for 93 electoral votes, in addition to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Arizona. The Republican is in the lead in five out of seven, the newspaper estimates.

While Harris has secured the support of 117 electors, Trump has more than 200, Fox reports.
