Ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko complained about insufficient spending on the defense of the state and the armed forces of the country and compared them with the budget of Russia. He stated this during a speech at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to Poroshenko, the budget of the state, which is in a state of wartime, should have one priority — defense, financing of the armed forces and protection of financing of the military-industrial complex.
"I want to disappoint you, you will not find any of this in the document (budget) that is currently being put to the vote by the budget committee! And what are the priorities set? Look at the budget of Russia," he said.
According to him, in 2024 on Ukraine's expenses are $ 37 billion, and in 2025 — $ 34 billion. According to Poroshenko, in Ukraine "the army is not a priority."
The problem lies, in particular, in the fact that the priority in the country is "disabled prosecutors, increased funding for supervisory boards of state—owned enterprises, security forces and corrupt cashback with the purchase of voters' votes," RBC quotes the ex-president.
