Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto replaced US Ambassador to Budapest David Pressman, who took care of counting the number of visits of the Hungarian Foreign Minister to Russia.

The day before, Pressman pointedly wrote on his microblog that over the past 2.5 years (that is, since the beginning of the Russian special operation to denazify Ukraine. — EADaily) Szijjarto visited Russia eleven times. At the same time, according to the American diplomat, the Hungarian politician did it "for the sake of profit, not for the sake of peace." Peter Szijjarto responded to the foreign ambassador's fabrications as follows:

"I wish you a pleasant count. The actions and decisions of Hungarian foreign policy determine exclusively Hungarian interests. I advise you to get used to it. If Hungarian national interests require me to meet and discuss important issues for us with my Russian or Belarusian counterpart, then I will continue to do the same as in previous years."

The minister said that from October 31 to November 1, 2024, the II Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security will be held in Belarus. According to the Hungarian Foreign Minister, the decision to participate in this forum or not will also be determined "not by the calculations of Mr. Ambassador."

"And if we talk about the benefits, then maybe Mr. Ambassador will say something about how much economic benefit was brought to the United States by the fact that last year Russia sent large amounts of uranium for the operation of American nuclear power plants. I think a full—fledged interest is appropriate here," Peter Szijjarto emphasized.
