The chairman of the opposition bloc "Victory" Ilan Shor said that the preliminary results of the elections of the President of Moldova and the European referendum were a defeat for the authorities.

According to preliminary data of the Central Election Commission, after processing 90% of the protocols from polling stations, Maya Sandu, who is running for a second presidential term, is gaining 37.87%, ex-Prosecutor General Alexander Stoyanoglo - 28.77%. According to preliminary data of the CEC, 53.73% of voters voted against Moldova's accession to the EU in the referendum, 46.27% voted in favor.

"This is a rout. The Moldovan people have spoken their word. Sandu, did you hear that? Neither your European Union, nor you, nor your Euro-owners are needed here. How did you get people that even with a horse admin resource, blockages, arrests, stuffing, they just kicked you out with a bang. Everyone understands that now you are trying your best to steal votes," Shor wrote in his telegram channel.

According to him, Sandu will not be able to convince the people otherwise.

At the same time, Sandu said at a briefing that democracy in Moldova was under attack, since some organized criminal groups with the participation of foreign forces allegedly bought 300 thousand votes of Moldovan citizens.

Presidential elections were held in Moldova on Sunday, the head of the republic was elected for four years. Also on this day, a referendum was held, in which citizens had to answer the question: "Do you support changing the constitution in order for the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union?". Both events were recognized as having taken place, as the turnout for each of them exceeded the required threshold of 33.3%. The work of the sites in the country ended at 21.00 (coincides with Moscow time).
