Russians should reconsider their attitude to public Wi-Fi networks in public places and be careful not to become a victim of hackers.

This was told to RIA Novosti by the head of MTS RED SOC Ilnaz Gataullin. According to him, the most reasonable solution would be to disable the auto-connection function to known Wi-Fi networks on the phone altogether.

The expert explained that attackers increasingly began to create their own Wi-Fi points in public places. In this case, the connection is assigned a name similar to the name of the institution where it is located.

"In parallel, an attack is applied to the Wi-Fi router of the institution, which disconnects users from it," Gataullin said.

He emphasized that in this case, the settings of the phone for auto-connection to the network are of particular danger. That is, the user can see the "authorization page", which will offer to log in to the network, and when connected, the input data will be sent to the fraudster.

Earlier, EADaily reported that Chinese hackers had penetrated the networks of American Internet service providers and obtained information from systems that the federal government uses for court-sanctioned wiretapping of telephone conversations.
