The trade and logistics city of Manas will be built near Bishkek. The capsule for its construction was laid by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, the press service of the government of the republic reports.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the city will be built in Alamudun district of the Chui region adjacent to Bishkek.
"Trade is the basis of a market economy, and logistics is a key element of the modern economic system. We are starting to implement a major project — the construction of not just a trade and logistics center, but a whole town. This project has large-scale parameters: There will be 30 thousand retail outlets in the city, its area will be 700 hectares, and the total investment will reach 4.2 billion dollars. 700 million will be allocated for the first stage of construction," Japarov said at the solemn ceremony of laying the capsule.
He called this project unique, opening up new opportunities for investment activities.
"I am convinced that the creation of such a complex will make a significant contribution to the expansion of regional and international trade relations, the creation of jobs, as well as improving conditions for the export of products," the head of the Kyrgyz government concluded.
It is reported that the Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Deven also took part in the event.
