President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin awarded the title of Hero of Russia posthumously to Ufa resident Ildar Sufiyarov, who died heroically in the zone of a special military operation in April 2024.

He announced this in his Telegram channel on Saturday, October 12. It follows from his statement that Senior Lieutenant Sufiarov commanded the 2nd motorized rifle platoon of the 2nd Motorized Rifle Company of the Bashkortostan regiment.

On April 12, a group under the command of Sufiarov held positions in the war zone for several hours, but during the repulse of the attacks, the officer was left alone. He blew himself up with a grenade and three Ukrainian soldiers, not wanting to surrender.

"A brave warrior, with an indomitable will and a firm character — this is how he remained in the memory of his colleagues. Skillfully led the platoon, often had to perform combat missions under enemy fire," Khabirov said.

The head of the republic promised that the regional authorities would provide all necessary support to Sufiarov's family and friends. He also thanked President Putin and Defense Minister Andrei Belousov for supporting the republic's petition to award Sufiarov the title of Hero of Russia posthumously.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the military correspondent of VGTRK Yevgeny Poddubny was awarded the title Hero of Russia for courage and heroism shown in the line of duty.
