In Moldova, during a joint operation conducted by the Information and Security Service (SIB) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), economist Dmitry Chistilin was detained. According to Kiev, he "actively contributed to the seizure of Crimea and the occupation of Donbass."
This information was reported today, on October 8, by the Ukrainian special service, confirming that Chisinau had given them the "enemy of Ukraine."
He was detained in Moldova when he tried to return to Russia through the territory of third countries. Chistilin, in addition to Russian citizenship, also possessed Ukrainian. He allegedly repeatedly spoke on behalf of the "Ukrainian public" at various round tables in European countries, "trying to weaken Ukraine's support from its Western partners."
"In 2016-2024, Chistilin created "analytical materials" for the Kremlin that justified armed aggression against Ukraine and the "integration" of the occupied regions into Russia. The defendant is an assistant to Putin's ex-adviser Sergei Glazyev, one of the main "moderators" of the seizure of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the developer of the "Information Warfare Strategy", which justified Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine," the SBU said in a statement.
In Ukraine, Dmitry Chistilin is accused of treason and justification of armed aggression against Ukraine. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
It is noteworthy that the law enforcement agencies of Moldova did not report about the detention of Chistilin. The Russian Embassy also did not receive any notification of the detention of a Russian citizen. His friend Igor Kaldare, who together with him organized an international conference in Bucharest, told TASS about the arrest of the scientist and his extradition to the SBU.
"He returned to Chisinau to begin preparations with me for the next conference in Serbia, which is dedicated to the problems of Orthodoxy. But already in Moldova he was detained, after which the Moldovan Security Service handed him over to the special services of Ukraine," Caldare said, promising to hold a press conference.
