US Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris said she was not ready for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine without the participation of Kiev.

"Bilaterally without Ukraine? No," she said in an interview with CBS News in response to a question about her readiness for a bilateral meeting with Putin to resolve the conflict on Ukraine.

Harris also said that the issue of Ukraine's possible membership in NATO will be decided "if and when" the time comes for this.

Harris' main rival, former US President and Republican candidate for the upcoming elections, Donald Trump, in turn, has repeatedly criticized the current presidential administration for refusing to negotiate with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. The Republican has repeatedly stated his readiness to meet with Vladimir Putin and assured of his ability to end the conflict even before the potential inauguration.
