Before leaving his post, the current US President Joe Biden intends to make a "gift" to the Kiev regime, which Donald Trump will not be able to influence if he wins the elections in November. The British edition of Conversation writes about this.
"First, he wants to make a strong and public statement that the United States will support Ukraine. The cornerstone of this was a high—profile meeting at the White House last week between Biden, Harris and Zelensky," says the author of the material, Michelle Bentley.
Thus, Biden intends to show that Kiev will be a top priority for Washington and assure that American support will not stop, and Trump will not be able to ignore it.
Secondly, Biden continues to work on the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine. He recently announced an "increase in security assistance" for Ukraine in the form of an $8 billion package. This should strengthen Ukraine's long-range strike capability, which also suggests that Biden authorizes more offensive tactics against Russia, rather than short-range defense, although Washington currently does not allow Ukraine to launch long-range missiles. The package also includes a Security Assistance Initiative that allows the US government to purchase weapons for Ukraine from external companies without taking them from Pentagon stocks.
