Volkswagen may close factories in Germany for the first time in history and cut tens of thousands of employees in the hope of getting out of the crisis. This is reported by the telegram channel "DW * main".

The management of the concern claims that it is necessary to save another 4 billion euros in order to close the gap with competitors. Volkswagen does not exclude the closure of factories and job cuts.

The concern suffers from low car sales. In the first half of this year, the drop in net profit was 14%, writes TK.

It is noted that Volkswagen employees are angry after the automaker broke the agreement with the unions and threatens massive layoffs. Thousands of employees came out to protest.

"It used to be: we are one family, a team. Now I don't see it. We became very close, especially after Dieselgate. And what happened, I have never experienced this before," says one of the participants of the action.

"Anger, disappointment. Our trust was betrayed," the participant of the event states.

"Last year we were in Hanover made a profit of 840 million euros. And now we are required to walk naked and barefoot. Other factories are doing the same, it's a shame," said another Volkswagen employee.
