The head of the Consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexei Klimov, listed the countries with which a visa-free regime for Russians will be introduced.

"The elaboration of agreements on the abolition of visa requirements providing for visa—free entry for short-term trips of citizens (usually up to 90 days) is currently underway with a number of friendly countries (nine of them in the regions of Africa and the Middle East)," Klimov said in an interview with TASS.

He clarified that "the discussion with foreign partners of the draft relevant documents is at various stages and has its own specifics, so I would like to refrain from assessing the productivity of the ongoing negotiation processes and the possible timing of their completion for the time being."

"As usual, we will immediately inform the public upon achieving concrete results of our work, embodied in documented bilateral agreements," he said.
