After a week of preventive maintenance, Gazprom resumed pipeline gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia.

"In the period from September 19 to 26, scheduled maintenance work was successfully carried out on the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. Gas transportation, suspended for the duration of the work, has resumed today," Gazprom said.

The gas purchase and sale agreement on the Eastern route between Gazprom and the Chinese company CNPC provides for the prevention of equipment and systems of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline twice a year, the company added.

The day before, Gazprom announced the signing of an additional agreement with Chinese CNPC on additional supplies in December 2024.

"Thus, the early withdrawal of daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to the maximum contractual level will be ensured (this was previously planned to be done in early 2025)," Gazprom reported.

Gas supplies through the Power of Siberia increased gradually — as the Kovyktinskoye and Chayandinskoye fields were developed. And if this year they should reach 30 billion cubic meters on an annual basis, then next year they will reach the contract level of 38 billion cubic meters.

China has already become Gazprom's largest destination, surpassing Europe in terms of supply volumes. From 2027, it is planned to launch a Far Eastern route to China — from the Sakhalin deposits. Its deliveries to China will amount to 10 billion cubic meters per year. Negotiations are continuing on the Power of Siberia—2.
