The Polish edition of Interiya states: the militants of the Ukrainian 72nd mechanized brigade in Ugledar fell into a "Russian trap" and will soon be forced to leave the "fortress".
Polish journalist Marcin Jan Orlovsky notes in the article:
"The Russian pressure on the city [Ugledar] is so great that the military may fall into an ambush, which may result in the complete destruction of the unit. Until now, Ugledar was considered an impregnable fortress ...".
The Polish author also quotes a military analyst from Forbes, David Ax, that "the first signs of withdrawal from the city are already visible."
"There are signs that this is the case. It seems that when Russian troops began to threaten the flanks of the city last week, a two-thousandth group of soldiers of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, armed with T0−65 tanks and M-109 combat vehicles, began to slowly withdraw to more protected positions. The Ukrainian defense in the east was in poor condition even before the General Staff in Kiev gave the order to cross the border," says Aks.
About the situation in Ugledare is also reported by the Ukrainian analytical group "Frontline Intelligence". In their opinion, the position of the Ukrainian unit defending the city is critical and this is "probably the last stages of the defense of the city."
Marcin Jan Orlovsky sums up:
"Until now, it was a fortress that could not be conquered in any way. The Russians already control most of the main roads leading to the city [Ugledar], so its conquest will have a mostly symbolic aspect."
