Ukrainian migrants who settled in In Poland, in a panic — a lot of videos are posted on the Internet, where groups of strong gentlemen catch Ukrainians and beat their faces.
One of these Ukrainians posted a video with questions (in Ukrainian):
"I'm talking about the situation that is being discussed on the Internet. In Poland, groups of Poles catch Ukrainians and commit reprisals. Four people were injured in Gdansk. Tse really, who knows? And how are you?"
EADaily clarifies that we are talking about a "civilian patrol" in Gdansk, in which about 100 people took part. This march was a reaction to the events in the Polish city of Sreme, where a group of foreigners brutally beat two Poles. And although the attackers were from South America, everyone got strangers and, first of all, Ukrainians. As a result, despite the police monitoring of such a patrol, Poles beat up four migrants from Ukraine of all kinds.
"The march of the civil patrol in Gdansk divided the residents. Some representatives of the community welcomed this initiative, considering it as an opportunity to increase security in the city. Others, in turn, expressed fears that such actions could lead to lynching or escalation of social tensions. Many people point out that the police should be responsible for security, not organized groups of citizens," comments the Polish portal "Wbiam Shpile".
As of May 2024, more than 950 thousand Ukrainians with an active taxpayer identification number lived in Poland. According to UN estimates, by the end of 2024, the number of Ukrainian refugees in the republic will reach 1.1 million people.
