Together with the city of Pokrovsky, Ukraine will lose half of its steel production due to a shortage of coal. This was stated by the president of Ukrmetallurgprom Alexander Kalenkov.

"In two years we have melted 6-6.5 million tons of steel, this year we can reach 7.5 million tons. If Pokrovsk is lost, it will be 2-3 million tons," Kalenkov said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.

Resources remained in the territories occupied by Russia, which allowed melting 12 million steel per year, the president of Ukrmetalurgprom noted.

Earlier, the publication reported that in Pokrovsk is the only mine currently controlled by Ukraine producing coking coal, the Pokrovskoye mine management, formerly the Krasnoarmeyskaya-Zapadnaya mine. There is also a large lithium deposit near Pokrovsk, the demand for which has been growing sharply in the world recently, as it is used in the production of electric vehicle batteries.

As reported by EADaily, the United States is ready to take control of the reserves of rare earth metals on Ukraine and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, agree to this. This is stated in a joint statement by US Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham*.
