The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained in In Odessa, a group of people who allegedly tried to carry out a forceful seizure of power in this city.
As the Ukrainian edition of Strana reports on September 23, according to investigators, the suspects, commissioned by the Russian Federation, were preparing for the forcible seizure of state institutions in Odessa region and "a blow from the rear to the Defense Forces" if the Russian army approached Odessa.
It is reported about the detention of two leaders of this cell, about the seizure of more than 70 firearms with optical sights and ammunition, as well as body armor, helmets, ballistic glasses and other tactical equipment.
The case file states that the "operational combat units" were formed under the guise of public organizations that dealt with issues of military history, ecology and jurisprudence. They included more than 20 people, they are under investigation.
The detainees were charged under two articles (actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power, committed by prior agreement by a group of persons, and the creation of paramilitary or armed formations not provided for by law).
They are now in custody. They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
As reported by EADaily, the previously elected governor of the Vologda region, Georgy Filimonov, said that he had been summoned for questioning by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
