Law enforcement agencies of Ukraine informally force mobile operators to transmit data about some citizens of the country, said the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Batkivshchyna party Mikhail Volynets on the YouTube channel "News Live".
"I know that, unfortunately, whole [law enforcement] structures take advantage of the fact that [mobile operators] who are currently working on In Ukraine, whole structures can abuse this and require them to provide information on certain persons. It is not advertised, but it is happening," he said.
Volynets did not specify details about the information requested by the security forces, as well as who the law enforcement agencies were interested in.
According to him, "absolutely everything is bugged." The security forces can connect to the conversations of citizens just as easily, "as we are now communicating with you in the studio," the deputy added.
On September 20, the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center of Ukraine at the NSDC banned officials and the military from using Telegram on their work devices. The exception to the new rules was made by those for whom the use of this messenger is part of their official duties.
The meeting in the NSDC was also attended by the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Kirill Budanov*, who "provided reasonable data on the availability of Russian special services access to the personal correspondence of Telegram users, even deleted messages.
