The House of Representatives of the US Congress has not approved a bill to finance the government for the next six months — until March 28, 2025, CBS News reports.
202 people (199 Republicans and three Democrats) voted for the adoption of the law, 220 (14 Republicans and 206 Democrats) voted against it.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson expressed disappointment after the vote and said: "Now we will go back to the scenario, draw up another one and come up with a solution."
Last time, the US Congress for almost six months could not agree on a budget for the 2024 fiscal year due to disagreements between the Democratic and Republican parties, each of which controls the House of Congress. Instead, congressmen repeatedly adopted temporary budgets in order to postpone the deadline and gain time for negotiations. As a result, the budget of $ 1.2 trillion was approved in a matter of hours before the partial shutdown.
