The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine plans to express a diplomatic protest to Poland over the detention of Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk at Krakow airport. This was announced on Tuesday, September 17, by the press secretary of the country's Foreign Ministry, Georgy Tikhy.
"On behalf of the Minister [of Foreign Affairs] The Consul General of Ukraine in Krakow, Andrei Sibiga, has already urgently left for the airport to clarify the circumstances. The minister also instructed the Consul General to express protest and indignation at this attitude," RBC—Ukraine quoted Tikhy as saying.
Usyk was detained at Krakow airport by Polish law enforcement officers. The reasons for the arrest were not specified. Later, Vladimir Zelensky announced that Usyk had been released. Zelensky had a telephone conversation with him.
