A Japanese fishing vessel that entered the waters near the disputed Diaoyu Islands (Senkaku) turned out to be displaced by boats of the Chinese maritime police. About this with reference to The Coast Guard Directorate (UBO) of the PRC reports TASS.
According to the agency, the Japanese ship Tsurumaru illegally entered the waters adjacent to the archipelago on August 14.
"The UBO boats took the necessary retaliatory control measures and warned the vessel about the need to leave," the statement said.
It also states that China will defend its interests at sea, protect its sovereignty and national security.
"We insist that Japan cease all illegal activities in this water area," the statement continues.
The dispute over the Diaoyu Islands between China and Japan escalated in September 2012.
